Computer Literacy means being able to use both the software and hardware components of a Personal Computer (PC)

Hardware Basics - Setting Up the PC:
This is the first item that is generally taught in a computer literacy program. A user must have some understanding about hardware in order to make the best use of any computer.

Keyboarding and Mouse skills:

The mouse allows the user to quickly navigate through the computer. Typing skills and use of the keyboard are essential elements in computer literacy. The keyboard is how the user inputs information into the computer and its programs.

Screen Navigation:
Computers hold a huge amount of information. Knowing how to use windows and the internal file structure are essential to finding and storing information on a PC.

Core Applications:
Word Processor, Spreadsheets, Databases - learning how to use basic productivity tools is essential to becoming a competent computer user.

Internet & Email:
Navigating the Internet safely and comfortably is the goal of all computer literacy programs. Email is the most common means of communicating over the Internet, and use of email is a basic component of computer literacy.

Computer Security:
Many computer literacy programs neglect to teach students about security issues.
We train students how to keep themselves safe while using the Internet, and how to protect their computers and software programs from viruses, and other unwanted intrusions and attacks.
